Banker to the Poor: Peter Fonda to co-star

  • Peter Fonda has signed on to appear in the biopic "Banker to the Poor", to be directed by Marco Amenta.

  • The film is about Muhammad Yunus, who won a Nobel prize in 2006 for inventing the groundbreaking microcredit loans that empowered the poor in third world countries.

  • Irrfan Khan ("Slumdog Millionaire") is in talks to portray Yunus.

  • Fonda will play an American businessman who opposes Yunus' economic approach.

  • Filming is set to start this October in Sri Lanka.
