Big Bill: new biopic about tennis legend Bill Tilden
Baldwin Entertainment and GlennIris Entertainment will develop Big Bill, a biopic about tennis legend Bill Tilden.

Written by Frank Deford, and based on his own novel, the story follows the life of Tilden who dominated the sport in the 1920s, winning six straight U.S. Open singles titles and becoming the first American to win Wimbledon. He was also a contract bridge champ, musicologist, novelist, playwright and actor. On the other side of the ledger, Tilden was famously self-destructive, going to jail twice for sexual misbehavior with teenage boys and dying penniless.

Deford has had two of his previous novels (Everybody's All-American, Alex: The Life of a Child) turned into films.
