The Monster of Florence: Tom Cruise to produce and possibly star
United Artists has acquired rights to the serial-killer novel The Monster of Florence, with Tom Cruise attached to produce and possibly to star. The news was delivered by Douglas Preston, the author of the bestseller, while talking to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The film will focus on the story of eight grisly double homicides believed to have been committed single-handedly between 1968 and 1985, in and around Florence.

The screenplay is to be written by Christopher McQuarrie (Valkyrie). Tom Cruise will decide whether he wants to star in the film, once he reads it.
