    ZOMBIE PARADE: A CULTURAL SURVEY

The Month of Horror is pleased to present ZOMBIE PARADE, a multicultural retrospective celebrating the rich diversity of zombie culture. In this celebratory film program, we meet Afro-Caribbean zombies (ZOMBIE), Mexican zombies (ALL SOULS DAY), Evangelical Appalachian burn victim zombies (I, ZOMBIE), and a multicultural community of prison inmate zombies (SHADOW: DEAD RIOT). And in TRAPPED BY MORMONS, we also take a look back at the emergence of the Mormon zombie community, which is today the fastest growing zombie community in the world, and revisit some of your basic pasty white guy zombie movies as well.

Kindred Media Group Picks Up "Jailbait"

September 13, 2005, West Hollywood, CA – Kindred Media Group announced today it has acquired universal distribution rights to "Jailbait", to handle the film's theatrical, DVD, and foreign rollouts. The film stars Michael Pitt ("Last Days", "The Dreamers", "Dawson's Creek") and Labyrinth Theater Co. playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis, who made his feature acting debut in Todd Solondz's "Palindromes".

Pitt, who recently received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Kurt Cobain in Gus Van Sant's "Last Days," portrays a young man sentenced to a California maximum-security prison under the three-strikes law, who becomes cellmates with a man (Guirgis), convicted of murdering his wife.

The film, which features the screenwriting / directing debut of Brett C. Leonard, debuted at the 2004 Tribeca Film Festival, has appeared in numerous other festivals, and was awarded the Grand Jury Prize at the 2004 Lake Placid Film Festival. Kindred Media Group Acquires Distribution Rights to "Phreaker"
    Techno-thriller slated for 2006 release

August 10, 2005, West Hollywood, CA – Kindred Media Group announced today it has acquired universal distribution rights from Tasty Pixels, Inc. a production company out of Charlotte, NC, to the independent feature film, "Phreaker". Kindred plans a limited platform theatrical release of the film in select cities in early 2006.

"Phreaker" stars Eric Wippo of MTV's "Boiling Points," and chronicles the shady activities of a digital-age entrepreneur, who lands in hot water with both the law and a vicious thug.

The film has received critical praise for its clever story and compelling acting performances, and has won awards at several film festivals, including Best Overall Film at Southern Exposures, and the Audience Choice Award at the Asheville Film Festival.

Jeffrey D. Erb, President of Kindred Media Group said, "We're excited to have the opportunity to release 'Phreaker,' and it fits in well with our growing initial lineup of releases we are scheduling for 2006."

"Phreaker" is one of the first feature films to be shot with the digital camera developed by the Sony Corporation and used by George Lucas in the "Star Wars" episode "Attack of the Clones".

Mark Young, the writer and director of Phreaker, has been making movies for more than a decade. The film was shot in Charlotte, North Carolina using a Sony camera loaned to Young as new technology, under one condition: the full-length film had to be shot on less than a month's notice. Young wrote the script and cast the film in several weeks, and "Phreaker" was shot in 17 days.

Young says, "We shot roughly 90 scenes on 40-odd locations over 17 days... quite a feat for a low-budget film! In spite of the rigorous schedule, the production was very smooth, thanks to my producer John Merrick, and my director of photography Chuck Bludsworth, and an incredibly professional, enthusiastic crew."
