Moneyball: David Frankel to direct and Brad Pitt to star as Billy Beane Thu October 16, 2008 Return to Film News Variety reports that Brad Pitt is in talks to star as Billy Beane in Moneyball, an adaptation of Michael Lewis' nonfiction bestseller "Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game," which David Frankel is set to direct for Columbia. Steve Zaillian (All the King's Men) has signed on to write the screenplay, about Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane, who assembled a contending baseball club on a shoestring budget by employing a sophisticated computer-based analysis to draft players.
