Tue September 16, 2008 Return to Film News

Variety reports that Beverly Hills Ninja 2, a sequel to the 1997 action comedy, is scheduled to start filming next month in South Korea.

The film, written and to be directed by Mitch Klebanoff, who had also written the original, is about Ikki, an orphaned boy who was raised by an Asian family after a mix-up at sea when he was a baby. Ikki grows up knowing that he's different from those around him, but also quite confident he is a ninja and not just any ninja, but the legendary Dancing Ninja. He gets to prove himself when his beloved Sensei is murdered and Ikki goes to Hollywood to track down his killer, the evil action movie superstar Ansel LaDouche.

The cast includes David Hasselhoff, Lucas Grabeel and Taiwanese model-turned-actress Lin Chiling.

Sony Pictures Entertainment holds North American distribution rights and is planning to release the film next May.
