Wes Anderson is set to write and possibly direct My Best Friend, a remake of the 2006 Patrice Leconte-directed French comedy "Mon Meilleur Ami". The original starred Daniel Auteuil as a cranky antiques dealer who learns at a dinner with his closest acquaintances that none of them really like him because of his harsh manner and selfishness. His partner, who refuses to believe that he has a best friend, challenges him to set up an introduction. Scrambling to find someone willing to pose as his best pal, he enlists the services of a charming young man to play the part.
The project is set up at Universal Pictures with Imagine Entertainment to produce.
