The Last Pharaoh: Will Smith to star as Taharqa Sun September 7, 2008 Return to Film News Variety reports that Will Smith is set to play Taharqa, the pharaoh who battled Assyrian invaders in ancient Egypt, in The Last Pharaoh. Randall Wallace (Braveheart) will write the script for the Columbia historical action drama. Smith has long wanted to play the pharaoh, and has developed the project at his Overbrook Entertaintment production company, where the screenplay went through rewrites by Chris Hauty and Carl Franklin.
