Pacific Rim: Idris Elba joins the cast

  • Idris Elba ("Thor") has joined the cast of "Pacific Rim", the sci-fi actioner that Guillermo del Toro will direct for Legendary Pictures.
    The story follows a group of humans who defend the planet from an extraterrestrial force via the use of mechas (piloted robots).

  • Elba will play a human called Sensei.

Pacific Rim: Charlie Hunnam in talks to star

  • Charlie Hunnam (TV's "Sons of Anarchy") is in negotiations to star in "Pacific Rim" that Guillermo del Toro is directing for Legendary Pictures.

    The story is set in a future where giant malevolent creatures threaten to destroy the earth. To combat its annihilation, the planet must band together and use highly advanced weapons technology to eradicate the growing threat.

  • Guillermo del Toro has been set to direct "Pacific Rim" for Legendary Pictures.

    Travis Beacham ("Clash of the Titans") has written the screenplay.
