About the film:
Rochester, NY. Megan Paige is a driven police investigator whose commitment to the job borders on obsession. The only other aspect of her life that receives any attention is her significant other Kenneth Shine, who just so happens to be a lieutenant with the RPD (and jockeying for the same promotion as Meg). They're currently working on one of their worst cases yet, the murder / rape of a ten-year-old girl named Carla Castillo... and when Megan puts it together that she was murdered in Churchville, she becomes convinced that they are dealing with a serial killer. She becomes so caught up in her work that she begins to have hallucinations... and a bloody Carla begins to haunt her regularly.
When Megan cannot crack the case (and worse, her boss Captain Gullikson pulls her off of it), it pushes her over the edge and she suffers a nervous breakdown. She's diagnoses with an adult onset of paranoid schizophrenia that finds her in a psyichiatric hospital instead of her precinct and to top it off, she breaks off her engagement with Kenneth.
Two Years Later: Megan regains work for the department, but now in the shadow of her former capacity (she's a records clerk) and also in the shadow of her former fiancee - Kenneth has been promoted to the head of the department. At least she's got a support group for mental illness survivors and wheelchair-bound friend Richard Ledge.
When another girl Wendy Walsh is abducted, raped and murdered in Webster, Megan is convicted that the killer has resurfaced and her old fire is reheated. Against his better judgement, Kenneth allows Megan to ride along with investigator Steven Harper after she badgers him, but only in an advisory capacity. However soon after she is in the thick of things, her old symptoms start coming back, namely in the form of hallucinations of both dead girls now. And it's worse; she's beginning to manifest emgbarrassing physical traits as well in the form of involutary movements and ticks ( a condition calles Akathisia) which causes her to stop taking her meds (thus making her hallucinations worse). Ledge tells her that she's flirting with disaster but knows better that to try to talk her out of anything. Megan knows that the case is in danger of going cold with a few leads, no suspects, and a serial killer on the loose. Can she catch him in time? Or will the "Alphabet Killer" go free?
Rated R for language and some violence.
