I've read Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. Compulsive reading. They took some time as I felt a need to read every word, unlike most novels which I read for relaxation and so I tend to speed-read or miss out chunks. This was unmissable. Written in the 40s I think, so the style and intensity of the book won't suit lots of people, though the action is such I can imagine it will translate well to the screen.
